How We Began

AccessibilityAtlas is a follow on Community Based Initiative to the United States Department of State's U.S. Youth Ambassadors Program

In the summer of 2023, Dinu Antonescu, Executive Director of AccessibilityAtlas, was selected as the youngest of 26 high schoolers nationwide by the United States Department of State for a fully funded program to serve as a U.S. Youth Ambassador in Brazil. Over the course of three weeks, Dinu traveled across the favelas of Salvador, Bahia, engaging with government officials, civil society leaders, and Department of State representatives to explore the elements of an impactful community initiative. Inspired by these experiences, Dinu developed AccessibilityAtlas and presented it to the United States Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
